Who What Why How

WHO? The Salish Circle Centre for Social Change Through Education and Empowerment (SCC), led by Ta7taliya Nahanee, and managed by jaye simpson. SCC is the expression of our vision for ushering in a new era for Indigenous Cosmopolitans on these shared traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations, colonially known as Vancouver. We are more than a social enterprise, we are redress in action.

WHAT? The cornerstone of this work is our L.L.L. LABS project. The Listening, Liberation and Legacy Labs are 12-week unlearning cohorts designed to strengthen Indigenous communities through decolonial leadership, accountability, and cultural continuity approaches. Making space for lateral liberation that works to dismantle internalized colonial hierarchies within Indigenous communities, foster mutual respect, and strengthen collective power.

WHY? By amplifying the work of Indigenous facilitators, knowledge keepers, and Elders to design and deliver programming in the community, we are directly and adamantly supporting other local Indigenous peoples. With many Indigenous professionals working in settler-facing, settler-goal supporting roles, we aim to pay them well to contribute their knowledge and time to the L.L.L.LABS.

HOW? We offer a non-typical learning format. It is decolonial because we unite and work together. We aim to strengthen networks to co-create a shared language and pathways to lateral liberation.
